By resetting do you mean changing in resolution size or just the blinking you describe?

If you mean the resolution size have you tried other resolutions?

Is this an old monitor (CRT or LED)? Do you have another you can try?

Perhaps adjust your refresh rate via start > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Monitor

Monitor is CRT I think (3 years old!) Have tried other resolutions, screen goes blank, every minuet, and does that twice, then when it comes back on, it has reset the colour back to low. Have tried resetting resolution and refresh rate to factory settings, but it still adjusts itself.

    I would try another monitor.

    Or reload your Graphics Drivers.

To do this we need to ID your Graphics Device. If you could post back this scan it should show us:
