    Annoying Taskbar

I return to ask, instead of reading up on fixes, and posting-----A BIG hello to Jephree & Dan and the rest of the fine people here, in helping us all to learn and overcome windows LoL
A simple, but very annoying problem--every time I shut down or log off, when the computer comes up the taskbar has doubled in size, and nothing I have tried has worked, not even locking it, (just have to cursor it down) and was wondering if someone may have a clue as to a fix....
Just re-installed from Xp home (dell) to Xp pro (windows), and after googling-taskbar anomalies seem to be prevalent in the pro version....
    Xp pro Sp2 (have Cd)--dimension 3000--intel graphics,and hardware--80 gigs Hd
Did the usual scans, and everything seems to be clean--adaware, spybot, ewido, avast, and trend micro....And despite a good GoBack history, and figuring that it was just a fluke, and numerous program installs--I can not inch it back to a prior date of the problem...
No longer running a dell Xp-Period, just good old fashion windows-due to numerous re-formats, and it seems that it may not be a whole lot different (never really understood the actual programing difference, other than the I386)--so, in another words, re-formatting does not bother me anymore ( actually got the Dariks to fully operational down to 3 hours--love those backups--when???LoL Ok, enough
Blessings to All, and again Kudos for the work here at D-A-L

    See if this helps:

This can happen by opening Accessibility Options, etc. If the icons on the
Quick Launch bar are showing as being larger, it will result in the taskbar
being twice its height and also include the date or similar under the clock.

If this is the case, right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/
Advanced. Under the Item drop box choose Caption Buttons and change the
number by one, ok your way out, then rest to 25.

And/or reset your default to the XP Theme.

Other options to consider if the above doesn't help, nor moving the glider
    over toward the Start Button.

Lock Size, Settings and Position of the Taskbar (Line 128)

Restore the Taskbar to Default Functionality (Line 164)

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Well, did all that, and after a shutdown--my taskbar resized itself to the larger size, and it is now locked there, so, I am guessing that I am going to have to go into the registry, and get rid of those mergers Heh --No menu for it now....or quick launch & desktop
Thanks for the tip, was reading in kellys' corner, but couldn't find it, you guys truly are amazing...
Any additional help is greatly appreciated....Maybe A bug somewhere in a program or something LoL
    Blessings

    This was my general search:

    http://groups.google.com/groups/sear...ze&qt_s=Search

Have you tried turning off the Quick Launch feature just as a test?

Right click start then click Properties > Taskbar > uncheck Show Quick Launch

Bless You Sir for the link, and have tried all those things..
Seen in the posts, about something related to window blinds, and I did install it, but removed it, because I did not like, and was thinking about trying style Xp next, guess I just as well now, if I am already corrupted by the stardock program--should have heeded the warnings, but figured if anything buggy happened, that I could fix it--LoL Hmmmm ( have figured out alot of mischievious
programs that pester more than they help- ie: my old favorite ad-watch (love that program, but every time something didn't work, and upon googling, and finding --if you have this installed it may be LoL I am sure you are aware of alot more than I, that's why I research tons, and ask when I get lost LoL
Funny thing is, that I am a member of google groups, but had forgotten all about it, so thank you again for pointing me towards the answer--Big Kudos
    Sincerest Blessings
