i lost my dvd and cd writeable not sure how it happened but need help i checked the wires they seem to be fine not sure what to do next please help

Go to the Device Manager: start/run devmgmt.msc

Expand (click +) DVD/CD-ROM drives

Right click the Drive in question and Uninstall then reboot your computer.

If it is not listed there check your BIOS Setup to see if it is listed.

BIOS Setup is usually accessed by pressing the Delete key right after powering on the computer.

Or look on the screen for a hotkey to Setup.
