    XP Nightmare

I recently tried to install Norton Systemworks 2004 and noticed many problems. I don't know if the problems existed before or not, but they are getting worse each day.

For example, I cannot search my files, I cannot restore to a previous day, I cannot reinstall XP, I have lost the address line in my internet explorer.

My "run" command does not work. What is it?

sounds bad .... did Norton install all the way ? as in correctly ?
are you able to open add/remove and uninstall it ?

try restarting you pc by the reset button so your prompted with the start up with the last known good config settings option and see if this helps ... this will load the last time winxp was working fine.

Tried to install Norton? Did you install? Did you have any of these problems before you tried or installed Norton? Just to clarify things not working: Search; Run; System Restore?
Can you use "Help" on the start menu? What about System Info? If you right click on the tool bar, do you have the Address Bar checked? Did you have SP1 installed?
What do you mean you cannot reinstall XP?

I am losing different things all the time. Help and support is not available; search files gone; no address bar in my internet explorer; cannot use the "run" command; when I try to reinstall xp using my disk, nothing happens.

Also, what is SP1? I only loaded some of Norton. I got into real trouble with GO Back. Couldn't uninstall, so I reinstalled it and then uninstalled it. System info also not working; some programs run from the desktop icon and some do not.

Even when I right click the tool bar I cannot access the address bar.

SP1 is Service Pack 1 for XP, when you get back on your feet you should definitly install it, from Windows Update. Go Back did what exactly?
Did you try re=booting as static b n e suggested?
Last Good Configuration? Here are further details how to do this:

So you put the XP cd in & "Nothing" happens? absolutly nothing?

Yes, I cannot get the cd to do anything. It is a recovery disk from systemax. It contains the xp home edition. I cannot get it to boot. Even if I boot up the system with it, nothing happens.

I also cannot boot in safe mode.
