After installing xp Computer freezes
I did a reformat and put xp home in my computer. It freezes when i go online (cable Connection) can you help me sort this out please. Any help will be greatly appreciated

What exactly happens? You double click the IE icon? Then what? Where does it freeze? Do you have to shut down the computer or can you open the Task Manager (Ctrl Alt Delete)?
Is your XP CD an SP2 or SP1? Or neither?
-
sp2 it wont open pages on line at all i have to shut down by pressing the computer shut down button Ctrl Alt Delete wont work

Look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for red X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

Those errors relate to the connection issues between your motherboard and DVD or CD drives.
Probably unrelated to your Internet issue.
Is your cable connection using an USB port or Ethernet?
If USB then try switching to Ethernet (if available).
-
Ethernet I have 3 computers running through a router
-
The others work OK?
Try start | Run... cmd
Then type: ipconfig /all
You can copy paste this window by right clicking then Select All then press Ctrl C to copy then paste Ctrl V into a reply.
-
yes they all work well that showed its working like it should. Do you think my cd rom drive may need replacing, I do have trouble opening it to put in a cd
-
All those ATAPI errors relate to optical drives (CD/DVD) and or their connections.
How this might affect your Internet connection I don't know.
You could try just disconnecting it for starters.
