I had this problem about 3 months ago when my sound just stopped working and I downloaded something from a forum and it fixed it, only problem is that I have the same problem. I tried to system restore but that did nothing. All I know is that I have windows XP. All help would be greatly appreciated.

I downloaded the Realtek AC'97 Audio Driver Update and the audio is still not playing.

Check your settings via start > Control Panel > Sound

Make sure that you are not muted and make sure that the volume is up.

If this is so try rebooting the computer.

I have checked all that and everything indicates that it is normal.

I would suggest rebooting to see if that activates the driver.

If not look in your Device Manager: start/run devmgmt.msc

Expand + Sound, ...

Any yellow exclamation points?
