hello,i have the same problem you have but i wanna know how you did it,i have dial-up and it keeps dropping out like every half minute or a minute ,please explain to me every step i went to event viewer and there are a lot of errors and warnings ,so i want you to explain it to me very well please,thank you so much .

Here is what I finally done to get pc to work.
1. Went to start... control panel....phone and modem options....clicked on modems....highlite modem
installed.....clicked on "Remove".
2. Powered down PC.
Replaced original modem with new one and placed into a different PCI slot.
3. Powered on PC and waited for the pc to recognize the new modem and install it.
4.Set the value in modem per BellSouth isp technican.
5. Added ATZ in "Extra initalization Commands" under.... Modem...Properties...Advanced tab.
6. Dropped speed that modem would connect at to 38400.
