    System Restore Problem

I was messing around with my computer and somehow I ended up in add/remove windows components. I don' know what I clicked but I think it was indexing service either I installed it or unistalled it. I restarted the computer and then I have cidaemon and civsc which I looked up and they are part of indexing service but I want to go back to before I did all this.

I open my system restore and there are no save points none whatsoever it says it's monitoring and I let it use 5% of my hard drive and it still won't show up.

I haven't used system restore in a long time but I know there should be some restore points.

What can I do to fix this or possibly go back to before all the indexing stuff happened?

Indexing Service is by default checked (on) in Windows Components.

Windows Components are not uninstalled by unclicking but just turned off.

Re-checking or un-checking should just function as an on/off switch unless you manually start deleting files.

That being said I concur that cidaemon is a function of Indexing but I see civsc as a worm:

To reset System Restore: Right click My Computer then click Properties > System Restore

Turn it off then back on. This will reset it as well as wiping all previous points.

A System Restore point should be created at least every other day depending on how long the computer runs. Check back and verify that points are being created. System Restore is also a major target for worms and such stuff.

You might want to show a HijackThis log to the guys over in that section.
