    Mouse Click Problem

I am running Windows XP Home on my laptop. I am using a USB mouse rather than the onboard mouse. Recently, when I click on Internet Explorer (I am set up for double click) I get a message window requiring me to click open before the browser will open. Does anyone have any ideas as to why all of a sudden I have this extra step before I can get my browser to open?

    Thanks,

Is this opening from the Desktop? The Start Menu? Quick Launch?

Do they all behave the same?

    What is the verbatim message?

It occurs from all 3 locations single click or double click no matter how many time I try it. What I get is a menu window with a number of choices to click on. One of those choices is OPEN. If I click on open then the browser opens properly.

So it is as if you right clicked the icon. Is this correct? If you right click do you get the same?

    See if this helps:

Go to Start/Run and type in or paste:

    regsvr32 /i shell32
