    CD/DVD drive not responding

I have recently deleted some programs which were no longer required on my pc.

I believe that one of those programs may have been linked to my CD/DVD driver.

Unfortunately, now I am unable to get my pc to recognise a cd/dvd when placed in the driver.

Does anyone know how this can be repaired or how i can get my pc to read the discs placed into it.

I am on windows XP and also my pc does open/close cd tower.

Please help if you can... else i'll have to take it into a dealer who will charge a bomb probably...

    thank you.

Go to the Device Manager: start/run devmgmt.msc

Click + next to DVD/CD-ROM drives

Right click the drive in question and then choose Uninstall.

    Then reboot.

XP should re-detect the drive and also re-load the drivers.

Thank you for your reply to my above query.. I have tried that unfortunately it did not work.

I am still getting a yellow triangle with a 'Caution' sign next to the CD/DVD drives...

I have also sent an email reply with a picture attachment of the message in device manager.

    Thank you in advance.

Right click that drive and try Update Driver.

    If that does not help:

Also right click and then Properties: Device Status = ?

I tried that and it states

'The Wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software you currently have on your system.'
