Alright, I own an eTower 633-IDS that has a surplus of memory, no spyware, no viruses, no downloaded material, only five programs (AOL, AOL Security), yet it takes 3 or more minutes in order to open something as simple as "Help" or Notebook.

I've tried System Restore, I've checked every program, dumped cookies, nothing works.

My computer is in excellent shape, although bought in 2000. According to the eMachines rep, it will cost $59.99 for a simple 20 minute service call (just over the phone)!

I downloaded a sample copy of Regcure (unregistered) and it detected 739 errors on our computer. I think a valid solution would be to buy Regcure for $19.99, the full program, and let it do it's thing, however I'm leery about credit cards over the Internet.

Are there any simple tricks, or programming techniques you could explain, that'd de-sludge my PC.
