    No Sound after fresh install

Hi everyone, just found this forums and posting the first time w/ a problem i have >.<

Ok well today after getting BSOD for about 30mins i decided to do a fresh install w/o formatting the drive(Just deleting the C:\windows folder and reinstalling it). Now ive loaded all the proper drivers and such but my sound doesnt work w/ the onboard sound nor my sound card. Ive tried them both with headphones and speakers but neither work. Ive check all the correct drivers and software is installed, the hardware is connected properly and such.

Here is what I have in my system...

    Mobo: Asus K8V SE Deluxe
Sound Card: Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Speakers are a Logitech 5.1 system

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A Repair Install from an XP CD would be the correct way to do what it appears you tried:

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

In general audio drivers do not carry through an XP reinstall.

If you are using a sound card then your on-board should be disabled in the BIOS.

Or remove your sound card and reload the on-board drivers.

Yes that is how I did do the fresh install of windows. And when I did test with the sound card I disabled the on board and activated it when attempting to use the on board. I still catn figure out what I am doing wrong ~.~

Hi, this is my second problem with this machine I have ever had. Recently I began getting numerous BSODs related to my drivers and RAM. Since then I figured out the problems to those and solved those and did a complete format of my hard drive. Now generally when I am playing a game called Lineage 2 at random times I get a weird static like sound coming from my speakers and then the PC just freezes. Anyone tell me whats going wrong? Thanks in advance

I merged your threads as it appears the issue may have crossed over.

How exactly did you resolve the first?

    Did you reload drivers?

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

I will review the errors but may not get to it tonight.

This site translates the basics if you want to look for yourself:

    http://www.eventid.net/search.asp

Will try to get to this tomorrow.

    Are you on a network?

Most of those errors are either network errors or a network card.

Did you reload your NIC drivers?

    Did you reinstall SP2?

Sorry to be so brief as I did review all those errors in detail and the network and or network card was seen in them all. Please pass on any new behaviors and or errors.

Yeah I am on a wireless network and I did reinstall the factory drivers. As for SP2 my version of windows had it already on the CD.
