Does your monitor have settings buttons on it?

Also you can check: start > Control Panel > Display > Settings

If nothing helps there I would uninstall and then reinstall your graphics drivers.

If you need help with this let us know what is listed in the Device Manager under Display Adapters

    Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc

This is VIA's driver site but I cannot find VIA/S3G unichrome IGP specifically.

Perhaps if we can ID your motherboard. Run and post back this scan:

    Is this an HP computer?

If so they put out an update to your driver just a few weeks after your current driver:

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...tem=pv-24969-2

Also if an HP what is the exact make and model? We could search further for more recent HP drivers.

Otherwise I also found a driver released last year that matches your chip set from VIA:

The computer is a compaq but I still tried the update and it did not work. I also tried the other driver but it said that setup could not be completed and that I had to check my progress log.

What is the exact model of the Compaq?

Reloading the motherboard drivers might help. They should be listed at the Compaq site:

    http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

My next step would be to upgrade to an AGP graphics card.
