My cd-rom disappeared from my windows xp. I've tried HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} except i didn't see the "Upperfilters" or the "Lowerfilters". I thought perhaps i might've accidentally touched something so i replug
everything but... still doesnt work (T-T)

As a first response you might want to post a HijackThis log for review by our Pros in that section:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
(Not in this section please).

Please specify what issues you appear to be experiencing along with your log.


To get the CD drive back I would suggest opening the computer

ESD - What can I do to avoid damage

then remove the Power Connector to the CD drive and reboot once and shut down again.

Then reattach the power and reboot again. XP should see the drive as a new device and reload the drivers.

However I would clean up the machine (virus) first.
