I have had this problem for about three months.
I have two PC's, Machine A and Machine B

Machine A plays WMV files without any problem.
On machine B the sound is distorted although the video is perfect.
The sound is similar to a hundred violins playing out of tune.
(All other files play without problem).

As I have the same sound card in both PC's (Soundblaster) I assumed the problem lied with the graphics card, this was suggested to me by a friend who read this online.
Something about an incompatible chip?

So I swapped the graphics cards.
Yet the problem remains and machine A still plays WMV files without any problem.

I have uninstalled Media Player twice and re-installed but the problem remains.

Cany anybody explain what is happening?
