i have done the disk defragmenter and it makes the computer faster but a few days later it slowly returns to slow speed. by slow speed i mean when i click on a page it takes like 2-3 minutes to fully pop up. i don't have a virus because i do checks and everything. i just wanted to know if there was anything else i can do. could lack of memory be the problem?

You could try clearing the temp files and cookies under Tools > Internet Options > General

Although I doubt that this would explain such a lag.



As a first response you might want to post a HijackThis log for review by our Pros in that section:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
(Not in this section please).

Please specify what issues you appear to be experiencing along with your log.

it is more like 6 seconds not 3 minutes

You may not get a response until tomorrow but I would post a HijackThis log.

These issues are usually resolved in that field and we have good Pros over there to analyze your system.

Also important to note that the internet as any traffic system sometimes has jams.

But if this behavior is consistent over time and on all sites then malware is very possible.
