That error plus clicking suggests a failing hard drive.

Do you know the manufacturer of your hard drive?

If not check the Device Manager: Start/Run devmgmt.msc | + Disk Drives.

You will find the major brand diagnostics listed here:

    http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

With a few others listed here:

    http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

    0x0000007A KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
The requested page of kernel data from the paging file could not be read into memory.
The Stop 0x7A message indicates that a page of kernel data was not found in the paging (virtual memory) file and could not be read into memory. This might be due to incompatible or defective disk drivers, firmware, or hardware, bad sector in a paging file, a virus, or failing RAM.

    Perform Disk Error Checking
Common Causes of STOP Messages 0x00000077 and 0x0000007A
STOP Messages 0x00000077 and 0x0000007A are related kernel traps that are caused when the operating system tries to load a page into memory from the paging file on the hard disk, but cannot access the page because of either a software or hardware failure.

Connecting a hard disk drive in slave only mode leads to system halt during resume from standby
A computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP or a later operating system stops responding during resume from standby, and you receive one of the following stop error messages:

    KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR : 0x0000007a (e163a3e4,c000000e,bf8e9313,0697f860)

    0x000000F4 (0x00000003, Parameter2, Parameter3, Parameter4)
    http://kadaitcha.cx/stop_err.html#0x0000007A

Memtest is here (although RAM failure is less likely): http://www.memtest86.com/

Also run check disk (although I would run the HDD diagnostic first):

    start > run > cmd
in the new window type chkdsk /r
when prompted to run on boot choose y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors. (This will take some time).

    Hey Jephree

For some reason the hard drive started to click again but this only happened once since the past five or so days. Is there anything I can do or will i have to remove the hard drive ?

Who is the manufacturer of the drive? Did you check the Device Manager? (ST = Seagate; WDC = Western Digital; most others are spelled out). Running the diagnostic would help us know what is going on in there.

If you have important data I would back it up to another drive or removable disks ASAP.

Do you turn on and off your computer every day? Does the clicking sound at startup or at random times? If the drive is failing you will need to replace it but get your important data off ASAP.

The maufacturer of the drive is Maxtor.

Yeh the computer is a family computer so it is used 3 or 4 times a day. The clicking sound occurs rarely but when it does it is random.

Most of the files have been moved to the other hard drive that we have on the computer.

    Maxtor uses PowerMax diagnostics:

There are instructions at the link.

Do you mean when you boot the floppy or when you are creating the floppy?

After downloading to your Windows desktop, insert a clean formatted floppy diskette into your A:\ drive.
Double-click on the PowerMax diskette creator icon.
When the Maxtor pop-up screen displays, click on the "Create Floppy" option.

After extracting the PowerMax files to the floppy diskette, restart Windows with the PowerMax floppy in the A:\ drive.
When the system restarts it will boot to the PowerMax diagnostic program.
