    Are you using a formatted floppy disk?

    Are you sure that your floppy drive is working?

    Can you send anything to your floppy drive? For that matter can you format a floppy in that drive?

    Insert floppy > Right click A: under My Computer and choose Format.

    My computer doesnt have a floppy disc drive for floppy discs it only can use cds.

    If your problems persist with this drive I would suggest installing a new hard drive and reinstalling XP.

    If your motherboard supports SATA drives this might be a good chance to upgrade. There is a significant speed difference compared to ATA drives.
