    audio mixer cannot be initialized

Everytime i try to voice chat on yahoo messenger or try to make an internet phone call on my laptop with windows xp, i have this message that states "the computers audio mixer cannot be initialized", resulting in breaking up of the voice that i hear from the other end. can anybody please help me solve this problem??

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware and or software?

From searching this appears to be a Yahoo issue. The only advise I've come across is to upgrade your sound device and or its' drivers.

Did these voice features ever work on this laptop?

What is the make and model? The manufacturers website should have the latest drivers.

    amilo pro v2045

    Downloads results AMILO Pro V2045

    Audio (Onboard) [AC97 - AD1986 + ICH6]

    SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio

    http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/c...downloads.html

Go thru the path: Notebooks > AMILO Pro > AMILO V Series > AMILO Pro V2045

There are also wireless drivers there (if relevant).

I have the same problem with yahoo chat on a new eMachine 3502, I have done about every thing I know to do. I can hear others in voice, but they cannot hear me.

my probelm was not Realtek or Yahoo, but new machine came with firewall setting and I had to make yahoo an exception to firewall and click mic boost under advanced options in mic under sound controls. Everything great now. I still get the error, but I ignore it.
