My girlfriend has a 1 year old PC with XP installed on it. It is in a real mess, things keep popping up saying ".DLL file missing" or "error please close window" Also MSN messenger and internet dial-up boxes keep popping up randomly without even clicking on them.

I think there must be a million viruses on the damn thing! Words really can't explain how annoying this computer is, you cant really do anything on it.

Now me being a bloke i said id sort it but i dont have a clue how to..... please help me!

Does the harddrive want wiping? if so how? and how do i install everything afterwards.
Do i need a new harddrive?
Shall i just throw the thing in the bin and buy another? (really not an option, just said it for the comedy value!!!)

Personally i think its a waste of a PC if its only 1 year old!! A wipe is a great option if the PC is really that bad! Usually if the PC is branded, it comes with a recovery CD which will return the PC to its purchased state!!!

You may be able to rescue the PC! The tech guys on here are pretty good and will suggest some program that will clear all the viruses up. AVG anti virus, Ad Aware to name a few!!! I just hope one of them makes a post now lol!!!

Don't go for the wipe just yet lol!!! :P
