"System has just recovered from a serious error" problem
Hey all, thanks for the help rendered for my previous qn..
now im suffering from another error (a new one which has been occuring on my own PC
as of late)
here are some specs of my PC
Pentium 4 3.0GHZ
1GB Ram
WinXP Home Edition SP2 (genuine)
the problem i have been getting is as follows:
whenever i am using my pc to do stuff (it can be anything, watching movies, listening to music, etc) it suddenly would
restart.
and when it restarts i'd get this msg "The system has just recovered from a serious error. A log of this error has been
created."
i copied the error details which are as follows:
BCCode : c2 BCP1 : 00000007 BCP2 : 00000CD4 BCP3 : 02060002
BCP4 : 84DB52E0 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1
i dont understand at all what that means. This problem started occuring a few months ago, but as of late (this last week)
it has happened many times, and sometimes my pc freezes and restarts twice in a day!
All the time i get the "This system has just recovered from a serious error." message.
Could something ominous be imminent for my system?
Should i get it checked professionally?
Hope u guys can help me out once again, i would really appreciate that!!
Regards,
dev

Look in XP's event viewer either under system or application for this error and post the source and event I.D.
The easiest way to find the error next time this happens is to go into event viewer and delete the logs now. A new log will be created.

From your brief error it appears to be a driver behaving badly.
If you want to try and analyze the errors:
Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.
Then:
1) Download and install the
Debugging Tools from Microsoft
2) Download and install this
debugwiz
3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
4) After the Wiz creates a Text document post it back to this thread.
Also run check disk if it is not running after a crash:
start > run > cmd
in the new window type chkdsk /f
when prompted to run on boot choose Y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors.

With reference to my original message
Hey guys,
the problems with my PC have gotten worse over the past few weeks.
Software keeps on hanging, and i get crashes more than ever.
I managed to note down the error message i got during one of the "blue screen"
crashes and it goes like this :
-----------------------------
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Technical information:
STOP: 0x00000050 (0xBAD0B148, 0x00000000, 0x8056977B, 0x00000002)
-----------------------------
any clues as to what the prob could be?
should i send it in for repair?
Thanks so much once again,
With warmest regards,
Dev
P.s. ive done chkdsk, it seems that the HDDs are running normally

This is one possibility:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=894278
For more detail on the error:
Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.
Then:
1) Download and install the
Debugging Tools from Microsoft
2) Download and install this
debugwiz
3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

hi all, i ran memtest86 on my pc for about 8 hours, with no errors found in the ram.
moreover, i checked for the rootkit as stated on the site http://support.microsoft.com/?id=894278 and it came up negative.
so we can rule that out as possibilities.
i havent yet tried the DMP thingy, although i did run a search on DMP files they came up all over the place in different folders. which folders should i use the debugwiz on?
thanks
regards,
dev

Any and all.
Especially those that appear to coincide with these errors. They should have a time/date mark.
Posting individually as attachments is the best way for us to review them.
