Formatted hard drive, no sound - Please Help!!
Hello there
Please help, I've trawled loads of forums like this and just can't find the answers I need! I had to format my hard drive and since then there is no sound on my computer. I take it I need audio drivers, but can't find the right ones anywhere.
I've tried device manager and troubleshoot, but the sound card is not detected so I can't update drivers from that option. I have also tried the intel site but can't find the drivers I need there.
My sound card is as follows:
Intel 82801DB ICH4 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-1]
Motherboard chipset is:
Intel 855PM (Odem) + ICH4-M
If anyone out there can please help direct me in how to download and install the correct drivers I would be most grateful.
Cheers.

Is this a manufactured computer? If so what is the exact make and model?
If it is custom built please post back this scan:
http://www.d-a-l.com/hardware-scan.php
On the Intel site you will need your exact motherboard model # which the D-A-L scan should point out (not just the chipset).
http://support.intel.com/
If this is a manufactured computer you will need to find the drivers from the computer manufacturer via your exact make & model #.
