    Unblock Applications

My neighbor has inadvertantly blocked his email after installing XP SP2. I have gone to Microsoft's support page and found a hit instructing to run wscui.cpl. However, this does not run. Is there another method into the firewall settings to unblock this application.

    Thanks in advance.

That link is one of the ones I found on Microsoft's web pages. However, I could not get wscui.cpl, firewall.cpl, not the tasklist command to execute anything. The 2 cpl's would give me a brief hourglass but would not give me anything after that. If I tried to execute via the cmd screen, it would tell me that the command was not found. I could find them doing a search.

I am thinking perhaps to uninstall SP2 and reinstall. Thanks for the response.

    hey iowegian,

if you haven't uninstalled sp2 yet, you may want to look at some tips.

many people are having just as many problems uninstalling as installing.

    uninstall sp2

    Good luck

    Hey jephree,

Thanks for all your suggestions and links. As I suspected, the neighbor came clean and told me today that there was an error message that was displayed. He clicked on cancel. We were able to run the install over again. Once we did that, the Security Center icon appeared in the Control Panel. We were able to correct his blockage.

    Thanks again. Problem solved.
