Can't log on to MS outlook after upgrade

Hi all, I need just a bit of technical advice on two problems. I have upgraded my internet connection to Yahoo wireless, using the voyager 2091 modem. All seems fine with the connection apart from not being able to connect my MS Outlook to the Email server. I don't have any problems with Yahoo mail or internet, but I would just prefer to use Outlook as I send a lot of documents using word.

The other problem is the whole desk top computer will not **** down when this option is selected from the 'Turn off computer' button on the start menu.

If anyone could help with either of these I would be very pleased.

Do you have SP2 and all subsequent Critical Updates?

You might have to expand on the inforformation you require.

I do download updates from MS, however the voyager 2091 installation is standard straight from the disc. The only difference now is I now connect to the voyager via the 1934 socket at the rear of the computer rater than the USB.

I could post some screen prints of the the current set up and configuations.

    Hope this helps.

I was referring to XP SP2. You would see this if you do not know from: start/Run winver

Why the change to Firewire (1934) from USB?

Here is a basic search FWIW:

thank for the offer of help, however I have resolved the problem. It was a simple case of lowering the internet security levels. I still have the shut down problem. My Versin is XP with sp2.
