Upgrading 2000 pro to Windows Xp

im having trouble upgrading my computer from windows 2000 to XP. I went to the bios setup and change the boot sequence to cdrom. But it still booting from the floppy drive? And i don't know what to do from there. I just bought a new 80 gig seagate harddrive.

If you do not have a floppy in the floppy drive that drive should not boot although it will be checked for a boot disk.

Is the hard drive detected in the BIOS? Is the CD drive detected in the BIOS?

What exactly happens when you try to boot the CD? The more details the better.

What makes you think that the floppy drive is trying to boot?

You can always use the floppy drive in a worse case scenario using the 6 XP floppy boot disks that will take you to your XP CD:
