Hi and welcome to D-A-L
How old is the PC?
do you feel confident in opening the machine to remove the NIC?

The computer is 5 years old.
Ihave already removed he network interface card. the computer still does not reboot.
same error message on attempted reboot.
Is it possible that NIC stands for somethig else?
Would replacing the hard drive with a known working hard drive be a possible solution?
I came across this solution to a simalar problem, I know it mentions USB but the original problem was with a NIC
problem is fixed. i called dell and they walked me through it. i had to keep tapping F2 to get to some weird-looking menu and i remember now what i did:
select "onboard devices" to the left and hit enter to expand that menu of options and then select "usb controller."
i apparently had this enabled so he told me to select the "no boot" option, save changes and then exit this area.
i had to unplug the usb cable in back of pc, then replug it in and reboot.
problem solved.
