The System Model is listing your motherboard which generally indicates a custom built computer.
Is this the case? Like it is not a Dell or IBM or HP etc.
Do you have a full version XP CD?
Also having reviewed the thread:
Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware and or software?
I would turn off Windows One Care Live for the time being. I would also verify that you followed all these steps regarding the Sony software:
Special note:Uninstall Programs Manually
Just because Windows XP has the Add/Remove Programs feature it doesn't mean your application will appear in the list. Furthermore, even if it does appear, it's no guarantee that the uninstall feature will work. When you run across one of these situations the items listed below will help in getting rid of the application. Be aware that these steps may not remove everything associated with the application and can impact other applications on the computer. Have a backup or restore point and use caution.
*
Find the directory for the application and delete all the files in the directory. Delete the directory. e.g. click C: under My Computer then Program Files etc.
*
Open regedit (start/run regedit) and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
*
Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
*
To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present) open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
*
Some applications have Services attached to them. If this is the case, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es, locate and delete the service.
*
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the individual user settings and delete program references. Common places to check would be:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]
If no entries were found in the previous step and the application launches automatically, navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
and delete the entry.
You will notice that the Event logs have a time stamp. Pay close attention to your freezes and note the time. Try to match the times with the Events. To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present) open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:
start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Also how often is it freezing? What are you doing when it freezes? etc.
I have cleaned the insides ( very dusty) and it is still freezing, although no where near as often.... so thats good , thankyou very much.
It seems to only freeze if i ask it to run a virus scan or load anything big, does that give any clues? It gets most of the way thru a virus scan , about 60%, then freezes.

Download; create the boot floppy; and boot the Western Digital hard drive diagnostic:
Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (Floppy)
Instructions on page:
http://support.wdc.com/download/?cxml=n&pid=999&swid=2
EXTENDED TEST - This option checks your drive thoroughly and it can repair any correctable errors. (Please note: Although this option is safe and does not alter the data on your hard drive, some data loss may occur, depending on the errors found and the errors corrected. Western Digital recommends that you have a current backup of your data).

Please let us know at what point you need clarification:
Instructions:
1. Download the DlgDiagv504f.zip.
2. Extract and run the DlgDiagv504f.exe file. (Alternately you have the option to download the exe version of the file which does not require extraction with a zip utility).
3. You will see a Diskette Creator icon on your desktop.
4. Double-click on the icon, follow the prompts and create your diagnostic diskette.
5. You can now boot to this diskette. Make sure that your boot order in your Bios is set to boot from the floppy drive first.
6. You will see the following options:
SELECT DRIVE - Always choose this option first, as it determines which drive you will be working on.
VIEW TEST RESULTS - You can see the results of the test you just performed
LOG FILE OPEN/CLOSE - You can access the log file which is generated automatically
QUIT - Reboot your system once you have completed the selected tasks
