I will be packing/shipping this PC back to the HP factory (on them!) in the next couple of days. I can't do a backup and just about everything else isn't working correctly or is corrupt. I'm not too concerned about anything other than my music, video, and photo files.

I have a Maxtor external drive. It's currently got a bunch of "wrong crap" on it. What I'd like to do (and tell me if I can or can't or if you have a better idea) is copy those files (in My Documents) to it? But I've got to erase it first. Can anybody enlighten me? Hate to rush you, but I need to know asap - Thanks so much!!!

Disk Management: Start/Run/ diskmgmt.msc

Right clik the drive and choose Format.

This is only a suggestion - It works for mine - but might not for you , depending (i think ) on the make of your Ex Hard drive .
\What i do with mine -s to find the letter of the ex-hard drive - in "my Computer" - Usually F or G and right click select the format option ,
