OE E-Mail corrupts my image files when I transmit messages

Neal over at the Malware, Ad-Ware, Virus forum was a big help in straightening me out with junk in my Registry & refers me to you for help with my OE mail program.

When I forward or create an html format e-mail msg it arrives at recipients with the images as attached files, and in addition adds the image number in the Subject field of the msg! Most recipient's mail filters interpret the msg as a virus and block them.

Furthermore, when trying to Insert/Picture & the Explorer opens to select file the whole program freezes and I must shut OE down with the Windows Task Manager.

    Where to begin??

    Thx,

    Bill

I would suggest reinstalling. To do this you need to reinstall SP2.

Appreciate your help so much, but as you might realize that has been tried much earlier before I came here. All it tells me is I have the most recent version. Duh.

If you can tell me where on this link you gave me where to get help I shall gladly comply:

Uninstall "Windows XP Service Pack 2" first via Control Panel > Add Remove Programs.

Make sure that the "Show updates" box on the top is checked.

After uninstalling and rebooting you should get SP2 back in Windows Update to reinstall.

The latest versions of both IE and OE are contained in SP2.

I also see you still working with Neal. Do not reinstall SP2 untill all your other issues are resolved.

There is no such selection as you describe ( Windows XP Service Pack 2 ) either in the main Add/Remove or Windows Components box.

Was your computer pre-loaded with XP SP2?

If so you may need to run a Repair Install off of your Recovery Disks.

Yes, believe it was as I got it in January. Dell sent me 3 disks, but very confusing.

What is the model #. We can look it up and try to help clarify.

So, then, I cannot un-install? Just do as the disk says?
