Dropped my laptop...

Re: Dropped my laptop...
OK, got it... but it does not say much about bios settings, and the only drive it lists is the hard drive.
Did you mean that this whole operation is called entering the bios settings? If so, what do I need to change? Or. . . Do I simply have to wait until I am at a warranty center?
thank you

Every BIOS is different but somewhere there will be an indication of every thing the motherboard sees. Perhaps a General section. Perhaps in Boot/ Boot Menu: is there the choice and or mention of a CD-ROM?
My first guess is that an internal connection was jarred but this doesn't explain the power light as a SCSI connection has a combo data/power connection
If you see no indication of the drive I would suggest waiting for a repair.
Is this drive removable? Some laptops have interchangeable CD/ floppy drives.

Under the boot menu ist says "boot settings" and then there is "boot settings configuation" (with suboptions to enable or to disable quick boot and quiet boot. they are both enabled), "boot device priority" (with devices listed in the following order: removable device, hard drive, cd/dvd, network). "Hard disk drives" (with only the 1st drive listed HDD: PM-IC25N060ATM).
I think the drive is removable. . .

Have you tried removing then reinserting?
-
Do you mean unscrewing and removing a piece of the laptop? I am afraid to void the warranty. . .

No. I meant many laptops have removable drives: slip in slip out.
I cannot find a Pro60R at the Asus site so am uncertain as to the specs.

No, I would not open it, was just wondering if it was a slip in/out drive.

OK then, drive is not removable. There _is_ a screwed in box, next to the cd drive, one of whose sides is pushed out -- pobably knocked out during the fall... I carefully loosened the screws on it so that I could push it back in... but... to no avail. There is still no cd drive present. I guess I just have to wait 43 more days. (Hope warranty does not come into question...)

I don't know how they address warranty issues regarding external physical damage but best of luck!
