Hello, This is my first post to this forum.I have some computer skills. Just enough to get me in trouble. Here is my problem:

Computer works fine for a while. Then when I am doing something that requires more processing (just a guess) screen locks up with lines running through it vertically. And sometimes printer will start spitting paper out with letters and symbols at bottom of pages.

I am using a E-machine 3400+ useing xp with 1 gig of memory,160 gig HD, nvidea gegorce 5200 pci 128meg video card,Norton antivirus. New memory was installed 2 weeks ago. Problem started 1 week ago. Could it be the memory? Or a virus that is not being found?

not sure why it would be incompatible/damaged ram, but if it is when doing tasks that require more 'energy' and it cant access the other stick of ram....

try removing the new stick, see if you still get the problem (dont think it would be the ram but its worth a try)

also, check for overheating (preferably the CPU or graphics card) when running your computer.

do you mean the screen shows the application you were using last with lines through it? or the screen goes black with lines through it?

What program(s) do you run that might use more CPU or ram?

Shows the last screen frame of application running with the lines through it. Thanks for reply.The program that really sets it off is G-2 Lite Rc Flight simulator by Great Planes. And now just surfing the net and also downloading will make it lock up..

fist off, i would check for overheating (as i mentioned before)

I feel a little stupid, but could you explain what Hijack this thread ect. means? Started to read into info and tell me if I am wrong Hijack this log is a program??

It is a little program that scans and logs everything running on your computer.

The Pros over in that section are experts in interpreting this data.

If you have any Virus; Trojan; or Malware infection they will be able to see it and try to fix it.


Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
(Not in this section please).

Please specify what issues you appear to be experiencing along with your log.
