Tell me about it.. had to get rid of ours in the end for that very reason; went through a few companys until we found someone decent!

This will make you laugh, i went into PC World the other week and there were two pen drives.. identical to look at, but the one with the higher capacity was USB1.1 and the other was USB 2. I didnt know difference - i know, sad! when i asked why the smaller one cost more i was told that it was because it was smaller inside ie a 256mb drive was made smaller and therefore you pay a premium for it... I phoned nsys (sorry guys!) and they pointed out that USB2 is faster etc and thats the real reason for the price difference! What planet are PCWorld on?? lol..

because although they are identical to look at, one could be 256mb but the other could have been 512mb or 1gb

or were they the same capacity, just one was USB 1.1 and the other USB 2?

I went into our local pc shop to buy some CD-r's and the techs were trying to repair a computer, it had an error message on the screen (cant remember what it was exactly) and they were talking about doing a clean install, i said hang on a minuit, have you tried the recovery console?
they said no
i said well try the 'fixboot' function in that, so they did it and it worked... i was shocked that they hadnt already tried it!!!!! it would have been nice to be offered a saturday job their!!! lol

lol, its frightening; seems everyone is willing to proclaim themselves as pc experts! Might set up my own shop; cant be any worse.

As for the price differences, the 256 was about 20 more (about 18 months back! could buy one for £20 now!!!).

lol, you could probably find one cheaper than that if you looked!! lol i saw a 256mb mp3 player with 3 covers (a red one, a blue or black one and one with the st. georges cross on it) for about £15!!!

it was really small aswell. think ill keep my 20gb one though lol
