    Windows not recognising .zip files

Ever since i uninstalled winrar my windows xp sp2 fails to recognise .zip files

    Dunno what the problem is

Whenever i download a zip file it has the icon which is associated with 'what do you want to open this file with'

    Any ideas?

im on 56k btw, so making me download something huge wont help heh

I would have assumed that winrar would have taken control of .zip files.

In general winzip or winrar or similar applications associate themselves with .zip

Do you have the choice to open with (extract with) winrar? Perhaps there are settings within winrar itself as well.

You can always change the file association via start > Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types

Or you can restore XP default file associations with these edits:

Also if you find winrar to be not exactly what you want I personally prefer this little freeware: http://www.ultimatezip.com/index.htm
