mine does that, ever since i removed my dvd-rw drive.

Im not sure if this will help but in the bios, make sure anything in use is on auto or enabled and everything not in use is disabled make a note of what you changed (from and to) this way, if it doesnt work, you can restore your origonal settings.... ill look for settings that may help stop this problem later. im going off for a bit now.

A bunch of ideas as this is a common issue:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316506

Start>Run> type in "msconfig" (no quotation marks). In dialog box, select
Startup tab. If Chkdisk is in the list, uncheck it.
    1. click on your start menu and open the run dialog.
    2. type "cmd" and return (note: dont enter quotes)
    3. Next type "fsutil dirty query e:"
    4. If the return message indicates that the volume is dirty go to step 5
    5. Next type "chkdsk e: /f /x"
    6. After that finshes repeat step 3.
    7. If it is no longer dirty then reboot and you should notice no more
    ckdisk.

Line 82. Disable or Enable Check Disk Upon Boot

Or run the edit on line 294:

Prevent Check Disk Upon Boot (Line 294)
