Angry XP crashes while using computer

When I'm on my xp machine (w/service pack 2 and all updates) it will randomly shut down and immediately reboot with no warning. I get an error when I log back in. No blue screen, nothing. This does not happen when I leave my computer on for extended periods of time, only when I use it. It has happened when a number of different kinds of programs are running (most recently an NES emulator). This is the error log:

    Error code 00000044, parameter1 889ad5d0, parameter2 00000d62, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000.

In practice, it is usually a hardware driver issue.

In order to try to ID that driver follow the following:

If you want to try and analyze the XP errors:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

    That was triggered by Envy24HF.sys

In fact it was ALL about your audio driver(s).

    A VIA Audio driver.

    Sound Card:
    PropertyValue
    Manufacturer Realtek
    Description Realtek AC'97 Audio
    Device ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0059&SUBSYS_812A1043&REV_A2\3&267 A616A&0&68

Manufacturer VIA - IC Ensemble, Inc.
Description Envy24 Family Audio Controller WDM
    Device ID PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&SUBSYS_170514C3&REV_01\4&241 1F011&0&3890
Is this a seperate sound card or is your sound onboard?

Also look in your Device Manager: Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc | Sound, etc.

    Any yellow exclamation marks?

The realtek was the onboard sound, which I am no longer using. I am now using a dynex sound card (Which is called the envy 24 on all my preferences.) I can try re-installing the drivers for those two. But, that is the situation.

I also disableed the onboard sound under the device manager.

Did you disable the onboard in the BIOS and Device Manager?

You could try reloading the card drivers.

Also as a test you could remove the sound card and see if the problem persists.

okay. I think I'll disable the onboard in the bios, then see if the problem continues. If it does I'll try the other things. I'll make a post on my success/failure. Thanks again.
