high there, my problem is when I boot up my pc I can here the fans running, but I have to press the reset button to actually boot up. This only happens when i have shut down my pc and then switched the socket off at the mains. if I just turn off my computer and leave the mains plug on it boots up perfectly. any help would be gratefully received, thanks
has this problem just started, have you added any hardware/software recently?
is the clock wrong when you do get to boot up?

Yes the problem started recently I think about two week ago, well that is when I became aware of it.
The only software that I have added recently is Windows Live OneCare, I have run this twice and I suppose my problem started about the same time.
My clock is ok it is keeping good time.
can you try a system restore?
for some reason I cannot do a system restore, I have tried quite a few different dates and I can't restore to any of them.Originally Posted by brain_damage
In general ATX systems should NOT be turned off at a power strip or the Mains.
They should have the 5v standby available when off.
If you absolutely need to cut the Mains power I see often the suggestion to verify that the CPU voltage is set to Default.
A few others (including myself) have seen this when the CPU voltage is set
to anything other than Default (even if it is manually set to the correct
voltage).

First of all my problems are solved, i have invested in the excellent pc doc pro 3.5 that is edvertised on this site, best £20 I have spent in a while. It has sorted all my problems out also the pc is running like new.
Secondly how do I check that my CPU voltage is set to default, havent got a clue how to do that.
Thanks
Do you know what this programed changed? Just curious.
The CPU voltage settings would be in your BIOS setup. To enter this one usually presses the Delete key right after Power On. You should see a sub menu or tab referring to CPU settings.
