What happens when you try Safe Mode Options (F8)?

    When does this error appear?

If Windows won't boot into Safe Mode you are left with the Toshiba Recovery Options.

Do you know what they are? Do you have Recovery Disks? Do you know if there is a Recovery Hotkey?

I try to boot in safe mode and get the same old blue screen with the error. The error appears shortly after the "win XP" and loading bar after it tries to initialize.

The laptop came with ONE CD. and when I put it in it say F1 to reload windows and loose everything or F2 to cancel. thats it.

If you try to boot into safe mode options you should never see the XP logo.

After you power on the machine continually tap tap tap the F8 key.

You should get a list of options. Safe Mode being one. If you get there try Safe Mode: System Restore.

Most Recoveries offer a Repair install. What is the exact Toshiba model? There may be instructions at the site I posted.

Were you able to get Safe Mode options? F8?

    after pressing F8 I get:

    Safe mode
    Safe mode w/networking
    safe mode w/cmd prompt

    enable boot logging
    enable VGA mode
    last known good configuration
    debugging mode

    start windows normally
    reboot

if i go to safe mode, it says "please select the operating system to start" I pick the only thing, win XP home and a whole bunch of lines load, then its like its restarting the computer, then it goes to the windows loading screen again, then I get the same blue screen. All I wanted to do was install SP2, windows is freaking frusterating!
