Re: Freezing
Hi all
I seem to be having the same problems, whenever i do something demanding, e.g. a game, after about 5mins of playing the screen freezes and the music loops.
Im running a
radeon 9600xt 128mb
1.5 GB ram
Amd 3500+
160gig HD
I thourght it was heat, brought a new system 12cm fan and its all running cool and fast.
kept getting vpu error messages and had to use 5.3 catalyst drivers.
Im getting a new graphics card and seeing if thatll help, hopefully should do the trick.
any advice would be helpful
cheers

I seem to have the same problem, i was getting vpu errors, so i changed to an older catalyst driver 5.3.
That seemed to have solved the vpu problem. But now when playing a game it freezes out and the sound loops and i have to restart.
Ive ordered a new Graphics card and hopefully itll sort things out.
Amd 64 3500+
Radeon 128mb 9600xt,

Windows XP.

As you say: a new Graphics card will hopefully sort things out.
You might check your error logs:
Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.
How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
Also view your Error Log via:
[1] Start Menu
[2] Help and Support
[3] Pick a Task
[4] Tools
[5] Advanced System Information
[6] View the Error Log
Look for any synchronous entries.
