Re: No sound after reformat of XP

Yes, the sound was working prior to reformat.

I was working on a slide show, and the saved file would no longer open with the slide show program that I am using. I would click on the file and the folder would just close.
I uninstalled the slide show prog. and that did not help. After the format the file/folder and ProShow are fine.

I will install the driver and check to see if sound in enabled in peripherals

I just uninstalled the realtek again, booted and intalled the driver- no sound

I went into the bios/periphirals and saw nothing I thought would be sound... everthing was enabled also in periphirals.

    Thank you
    Nancy

You can try to email them back etc.

Another possibility is to reload the BIOS if you are up to it:

    OK!!!
This is what I did... I knew I had a sound card from another computer. I put this card into to slot - loaded the sound blaster drivers.......And YES I HAVE SOUND!

BUT, it sounds just horrible- scratchy, I changed speakers and it is still scratchy sounding.
Do you suppose it might be the sound card I just put in?

Anyway, I was just so happy to have any sound at all....

If you think it might be the sound card- I will run out and buy one tommorow.

    Thanks
    Nancy

Are you sure that the drivers are for that card?

What is the make and model of card?

You can run this scan again:
