I have tried everything above except reformatting and when playing COUNTER STRIKE SOURCE i freeze, i can look with my mouse but i cant move back and forth, then in console it says net_packet error WASANER (something like that) then an ip, and its repeated about 50 times. I have no internet connectivity after this happens and after exiting css i have to restart my computer to regain connectivity. I dont know if this is a problem with my hardware, with my software, or with my router, how would i go about locating this problem?

Are you sure about WASANER? I cannot find anything on that which is unusual.

Do you have any other problems or is this just with CSS?

I starts with a W it says NET_PACKER ERROR: W ****. This problem occurs with CSS/BF2. Yes i can play, but for some reason i "freeze" and i am forced to restart my computer :/. Any other info just hooler.

If you could post the exact error it might help.

From the above links I see this error as a connection error. Perhaps a router setting or an ISP setting. The verbatim error message might point out more detail.

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

Also view your Error Log via:

Look for any synchronous entries.

I am checking my event viewier now, but i am not really sure what type of error to be looking for because their are alot. Would it be this?

Can you force the error again and post the exact full message?

Also if you force it note the time then you can check the time in the event viewer.

I can not "force" the error it happens genereally within an hour of playing. My connection is WIRED (through WRT54G wired router, cable 5meg down 400 up) I have played this game succesfully but never for more then an hour. I used to have wireless and it did this alot so i switched to wired yet i get the same problems. If the error happens again i will take a screen shot and post it, probably tommorow when i get home. It does not have any other problems, other then the odd time it doesnt startup (freezes on loading windows) everything is normal.

Getting the exact error will most likely help. Also note the time as your XP logs will note the time.

It might be some connection setting but it is strange that it works for a while then stops.

Is it always a similar amount of time?

Yes. It ranges, it is never the same time, sometimes 45 minutes, sometimes 30, sometimes 1 hour and 15 minutes. Oh yeah and when i exit out of the game and i press ctrl alt del this error appears This application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000017), i googled it but i only got stuff about VPN, which i do not have

Check your Page File Size:

Right click My Computer then click Properties

Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Virtual memory > Change

Is this set to System Manage Size?
