Hello,

I seem to have lost sound on my Windows XP computer with Realtek AC97 Audio sound card.

It's about three years old and had sound until yesterday. Nothing added since.

Speakers are working fine on another computer.

I get a beep when the computer starts up, but can't hear music, etc.,

Can anyone help me diagnose what may be wrong?

have you tried a system restore?

I have now - and my sound is back! Many thanks for your help :-)

Any idea what could have caused this?

who knows, I sometimes have these annoying little problems one day all works next day problems. good old system restore
