could someone please help....
I know that this forum is usually for people who know at least something about what wrong with their computer - that is not me - i know nothing!

I have a laptop that has been connected to ntl broadband before (it worked perfectly, very fast) but now i am connected to broadband, a local company.

My current connection (i'm gonna call it BOB) works perfectly on my pc but not the laptop.

BOB connects on the laptop but is very slow.
I have recently recovered my laptop in case it was something i did - still BOB is slow.
The firewall is not on.

If anyone needs more information i will get it asap.
My next step is to take the laptop to get repaired - please help before this happens

How are the laptop and the PC connected? Is the laptop wireless?

How did you: "recently recovered my laptop "?

Was it behaving the same before and after? Did you reload drivers?

Compare you ipconfig between your PC and laptop:

start/run cmd

then type ipconfig /all

You didn't say how much memory you have in your machine. Some of the machines being purchased do not have enough memory in them to run fast on the internet. Minimum memory I think would be 512mb. I would go to 1024mb. Just a thought. I checked the laptop at my son's company. That computer was fairly new and had just a bare minimum to get up and running. That makes for slow communications. I had to add memory to a friends computer.
