Alright, so a couple of days ago, i went over to a friend house. I brought along with me my pc and my new tower. I switched my old pc parts to my new tower. K, everything went fine there. Well after a couple hours of playing a couple games, i get a blank blue screen. What ever a quick restart fixed that. Well the next day i went home, and go to turn on my computer. Well it goes through so system checks first than goes to find the booting source, but after that screen it shows a "_" blinking the top left corner. I've checked the BIOs and all my drivers are loading up, can someone help me? What is going on?
Has your new case got any power supply issues, running too slow not enough power??Originally Posted by TMP
Apart from that all I can suggest is you may have a faulty part!!!
No, the psu is fine, if its a faulty part, any idea what is going haywire here?
The only thing I can suggest is checking all your connections in the new tower. Sorry buts thats all I can suggest. Best of luck!!!Originally Posted by TMP
What you are seeing: (The blinking cursor on the black screen) indicates that the hard drive is detected but there is no instruction to boot it.
If there were and there was another problem you would get errors such as Operating System Not Found or Hard Drive not Detected.
Resetting/clearing the CMOS on the motherboard is a quick first step to try.
Just to clarify: You moved everything from one case to a new case?
You changed nothing else? Just the case? Is this correct?
Yep. Only changed from case to case.Originally Posted by jephree
How do you go about resetting/clearing the CMOS?
Do you know the make and model of the motherboard?
If not this scan will show it: http://www.d-a-l.com/hardware-scan.php
You basically unplug from wall and remove the motherboard battery for a few minutes. Some boards also have a clearing jumper that needs to be shorted and then reset.
Just as another thought: Make sure that your hard drive is listed in the BIOS Boot Menu and also verify that there are no CD's and or floppies in either of those drives.
Motherboard is a: MSI AGP8X
and before it goes to that screen is says: "Searching for Boot Record from Floppy" when there's no floppy even installed.
And tried resetting CMOS and that didn't work either.
Sorry I mentioned that scan as you cannot boot ... sometimes I just stop being rational
Motherboard is MSI _______ ...AGP 8X would just be your graphics spec.
What is your BIOS Boot Menu set to?
As a test I would set it to boot the Hard Drive first.
Ok. Motherboard is MSI KT4AV (hopefully)Originally Posted by jephree
and I set my BIOS to boot my HDD first already, and it still comes up saying "Searching for Boot Record from Floppy"
Just had the jumper and battery removed from the mobo for about 5 minutes and that didn't work either...
