I seem to have a problem with my monitor resolution, it's a plug and play monitor so needs no driver software. I recently bought a new computer and used the monitor from my old pc which was working fine. Once I installed windows XP on the new computer, it only uses the defualt monitor settings, and wont allow me to change from 800 by 600, and 16 bit, even though I know the monitor can work at a better resolution than that. It does not allow me to change the properties once in desktop > properties > settings > advanced > monitor, once here the monitor just says default and wont let me do anything. I'm a bit of a techno pigmy so don't really know what else I can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

your new computer did it have any driver discs for the graphics, have you got onboard or seperate graphics card?

As far as I know ive got an onboard graphics card, and no driver discs came with the computer

thanx for the links, i found out from the guy i bought the computer off of that the board is a p4vm800 i don't know if that helps to narrow down which download i need

The seller sent me to that website, but the downloads to not seem to install.
