Good morning,

This is my first post so forgive any mistakes. I have an HP Laptop, which I'm currently experiencing some problems with. On Friday night I returned home from work, and turned the Laptop on, but just as the Windows screen with the blue bar came up, the laptop restarted. This continued to happen in a loop, so I tried to get into Safemode, but the laptop continued to restart as Safemode loaded up.

I took my Laptop to my mate who is the I.T expert (??) at work, and he managed to get the laptop working , by using the install Xp CD to repair the hard drive. I used it all day Saturday with no problems, but on Sunday morning the same problem happened.

On the Saturday, I ran Ad-Aware SE Personal which found 58 corrupt files, which I deleted and thought that would be the end of my problems but of course it wasn't.

Can anyone help?

this may not fix the problem, but take it back to your friend and have him defrag it.

Find out exactly what your mate did. Sounds like the hard drive may be failing. Is it old?
