I would point out to him from your motherboard manual:

22 AGP PRO slot. This Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) PRO slot supports 1.5V AGP4X mode graphics cards for 3D graphical applications.

As I mentioned the card you have is 8X. Many cards are 8X/4X or backwards compatible but they usually say so. That 5500 does not say so. You might want to mention this.

This would be my first strong educated guess.

In any case as this is a new computer the builder should be responsible for having it work properly.

I would let him try a different card and see what happens.

That is as it should be. The AGP PRO slot is a bit unusual but shouldn't be an issue. Is there a power connection direct to the card? The other issue is perhaps the voltage but then the card shouldn't work at all.

I would also check that the drivers are current:

Still I think that the builder should deal with all of this. A new computer should work like new!

It might show on the box or manual.

The point with an AGP PRO slot is that AGP PRO cards have an extra slot connecting for power.

I was just wondering if your 5500 might need power from the motherboard. It should be specified in the manual. I am just listing search results as I find them.

but to check if it really is connected, i would have to open up the case right?

If there is a power connector on that card and it is not connected then yes you would have to open the case.

I was looking for more detailed specs on that card to verify if there was a motherboard power connection but have not found any yet.
