is that in the notes or do you mean at the top where it says "General MIDI DLS Collection"

try re-installing all audio drivers and if that doesnt work, insert your xp cd (if you have one) and click start> run and type in 'sfc /scannow' without the quotes and let the scan finish, if it just closes, that means that it hasnt found anything missing and it is ok

    Hope this helps,
    Mike

It says it in the notes at the bottom buddy, gonna try your suggestion and see what happens ?

When i originally installed XP it said it could not install these 2 files if thats any use ?

    gm.dls
    wmadoe.dll

I think the gm.dls is the general midi settings ?

gm.dls is something to do with the midi dls collection

i would suggest a repair install:

or you could use the recovery console: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/j_helmig/wxprcons.htm

use the copy command (providing your CD rom drive is "D"): copy d:gm.dls c:\gm.dls

restart your computer and move (or cut and paste) the file to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drivers\

restart your computer and try again

i would suggest a repair install then, this will delete all windows files and re-installing them, leaving everything else alone...

you may need to re-install some drivers (some usb devices, audio/video......)

    hope this helps,
    Mike

    Morning mate,

Well have tried a repair re install and also did a clean install of xp pro i think the problem is inherent of xp pro so may go to xp home ?

If i install xp home clean will this re format the hard drive and clear all previously loaded software and files ?

Or is there a way of completely re installing wiping all previous files etc ?

If not am gonna have to go get a new pc or hard drive which may be on the cards anyway ?

    Jay
