    Re: Computer keeps restarting

well not to interfer in your cd copying stuff, but if all else fails (as i said before i had same problem rebooting etc on games/online/graphics) try installing a temp program (dal put me on to cpucool) and this when setup correctly warned me when temp was to high (which was the cause of my machine rebooting without my instruction) with a beep etc and i was able to stop program/game and wait until it cooled down, and since this has been installed i have not had any rebooting and installed extra cooling fans now all is well. I noticed when it was rebooting before cpucool installed that my system time clock was effected and was losing/gaining extra minites if you are getting the same system time changes then it really is an overheating problem. hope this helps

Did you download the ISO burner?

If so and you right click the ISO from MemTest you should see the option to: Copy image to CD

    Hello BBoy,

It could be but quids on it's not your ram but as Jephree suggests,a bad device driver.

To check your hardware and otherthings click on My Computer, then right click anywhere on a blank part, select properties, click hardware tab, select, device manager, a list will now appear with all devices installed, click on each of the +s, what your looking for is a small yellow warning sign--------that will tell you what device if any is causing you grief, then by clicking on that item you can update drivers, deleat devices and so on.

--------------------WORD OF WARNING-----------don't get carried away.

See how you get on with that, post back.

Many programs used to have this info in freeware versions but then started charging $$$

This list of Old Versions still has the old Free versions. In this case you can get Everest Home Edition under Utilities. With this program under Computer > Sensor will be listed all the temps that your hardware supports detecting.

Here are three things you might check out
1: Make sure the fan on your power supply is still working and the power supply is not running hot. When Power supplies run hot they have a safety shut off which keeps them from burning up, when it reached that temp your system may be restarting. Although most of the failures I have seen shut the system all the way down.
    2. You might have a virus like one of the 32 Blaster viruses. That is a common trait when a hard drive becomes infected. Go to Symantec.com and you can find a Blaster removal tool.
    3. It is even possible you might have a video issue like an out of date driver. Make sure you have an updated driver for your video card.

    I hope this helps.

Hi sorry for late reply been away, I tried the everest home, this was very good, but i ended up using PCCool (www.poden.de) and paid the shareware price for it. each person has thier own preferences so try a few and use the one that suits you (and works of course) they are all easy to download and install and most have good help screens. once you have a prgram installed you must check out your hardware temp limitations, (by the way i also use Active Smart that keeps a eye out on my hard drive for temp and error problems so with these 2 programs i can see when my machine gets too hot and get out or stop using for a while any game or program before it reboots. did you notice any change in your clock times when your pc rebooted? as i know of 4 people who had same problem as me and they use same prigrams i have and not one has a problem with rebooting since. as it was noted in the treads "please be careful and write down what you do and when"
