1st off if you dont want the option of home vs. pro
open your bios and find the setting labeled something like "Time to choose OS"
    where OS= Operating System
change the number to however many seconds you would like to delay
as for geting your stuff, if you have a spare Hard drive, put in this one as your secondary and just brouse for the files

Try booting into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key after your BIOS POST but before Windows starts.

Then try these settings: How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

Booting into Pro: have you tried altering the security settings as laid out in the Microsoft page?

    Change these settings as well:

First uncheck "Use simple file sharing" under Folder Options > View

Also go to the 'Properties File sharing' tab and click "Network sharing and security".
