can anyone help i have a link to a websit stuck on my desktop i cant seem to remove it when i puit the curser over it nothing happens it just sits there flashing

Can you find the source file?

Do a search for the link name and or search C: Documents and Settings\User Name\Desktop

If you can locate the file but just cannot delete it this tool might help:

cant find it with a search i have tried hidden files and folders it doesnt show in any files and i cannot access it ffrom the desktop right or left click gives me nothing.

Does it say anything? Any title under the icon?

Did this just appear? Did you put this link on your desktop?

You might try a System Restore to a point prior to its' appearance.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Another possibility is to post a HijackThis log for review by our Pros in that section:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
(Not in this section please).

Please specify what issues you appear to be experiencing along with your log.
